Bug #674

Mario Kart 8 shadow problem

Added by jul059 over 1 year ago. Updated 8 months ago.

Start date:
Cemu Version:
GPU Vendor/Model:
AMD Radeon Vega 8

Shadows on some characters in some situations become completely black after playing for a while. Restarting the emulator temporarily solves the problem. It also seem to resolve on it's own without restarting the emulator. It unclear exactly in which situations in which it happens and I do not know how to reliably reproduce the issue.

I have seen it in races and especially in the scene after winning a race. Also sometimes visible on some characters on the character select screen. Seen at least on DK, Piranha plant item, Bowser and Dry Bowser in races and Toadette and Cat Peach in the character select screen.

Attached log is after completing a single cup. Toadette and Cat Peach were then affected on the character select screen (pictures of Cat Peach only). It resolved on it's own after 30 minutes without restarting the emulator.

Is there a more detailed log I could provide?

OpenGL not tested.

I encounter the same behavior on my system. Opengl has proper self-shadows, performance is ok but worse than vulkan as far as power consumption ...While the kart is in use, the "gas" icon on the top-left corner of the screen will indicate the kart's battery charge. If it is low, be sure tocharge the kart.Obtain a gold trophy in every cup in the hardest difficulty, 200cc. Gold Mario may be one of the hardest unlocks in the game, but showing him off in Mario Kart's online multiplayer is definitely worth it Rainbow Road customarily appears as the final brand new track of each game. It typically is among the most difficult to complete, since most Rainbow Road tracks have no guardrails to prevent the player from falling off the edges of the track, and oftentimes feature tight curves, steep slopes, and wavy grounds.
